He works closely with the New Beginning Recovery families and the management staff, helping to keep things innovative, add additional services for the guys, and deal with all of the logistics of running the New Beginning Recovery programs. How Long Does One Live in a Sober Home?
We designed our holistic program specifically to help young men between the ages of 18 and 35. We do this through the implementation of services such as life skills, partnered individualized therapy, and partnered holistic treatment. Coming from a commercial marketing background, D’Arcy has been working in the charity sector for 30 years. He brings with him a wealth of experience in the charity sector, both as an interim and full time CEO. He was one of the founding trustees for The Small Charities Coalition, has been Chairperson for The Parity Trust and The Charterhouse Group of Therapeutic Communities. He currently chairs both The Smallwood Trust and The Association of Charitable Organisations.

Nigel has been a trustee of Newlife for nearly 6 years and has now taken on the additional responsibility of Interim CEO for the charity as the search for a new CEO continues. Nigel has been a charity CEO for over 15 years focusing predominantly in disability, driven by his passion and commitment within the field derived from the experience of having a severely disabled son. Clive qualified New Beginning Recovery as a Barrister in 1979 and spent his entire career with Lewis Trust Group Ltd, parent company of River Island, mainly in real estate, finance and investments until 1994 when he joined River Island. Our trading company and charity placed all their assets into the new registered charity called Newlife the Charity for Disabled Children, combining all of our focus under one umbrella.

The period following detox and inpatient treatment is a critical window where relapse is common. The longer someone can stay in a stable, drug and alcohol-free environment, the better. All 3 provide the comfort needed to really get down to the business of recovery. Vanessa is an adult & children’s nurse, having specialised in children’s neurosciences. She has nearly 30 years’ experience within a number of large teaching hospitals working with children with special needs, as well as supporting families in the community providing respite. Vanessa is currently a Director of Nursing at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
Although he primarily focuses on TMS and psychopharmacology, he is trained in various modalities of psychotherapy including CBT, DBT, EMDR, and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. He is a clinical instructor at UCLA, and has been selected to be on the list for Southern California Super Doctors for 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016, and 2015. Dr. Lichtman brings his extensive experience with addiction psychiatry to serving the young men of New Beginning Recovery. Dominic is the Manager at New Life West, and is a graduate of New Beginning Recovery himself.

We changed our name to Newlife the Foundation for Disabled Children to reflect the expansion of our services. Alongside equipment, we campaign to improve the outlook for disabled children and change lives. We support parents, work with health professionals and strive for a future where all disabled children get the equipment they need and deserve. In the early 1990s, many families of teenagers and young men approached New Beginning Recovery to help address their son’s addictions. At the time, long-term, sober living resident services for teens and young men in Los Angeles were unavailable. The disparity in their emotional ages, social skills, and life experiences was significant enough to require different approaches for each group of men for sobriety.
Nigel is an experienced leader with a proven track record of leading and managing complex services and delivering change and innovation. Prior to working in the charity sector, Nigel worked within IT Services for over 25 years delivering many large and complex IT systems and services predominantly in the Public Sector. The largest store in Newlife’s portfolio opened in High Wycombe, taking the number of stores to ten around England and Wales.
